The Button is a former social experiment on reddit, reimagined as an interactive installation for your next event.

The Rules

A timer is ticking down (default: 10 minutes) before the game is over. To keep the game going, players must press the button which resets the timer.

However, depending on how far into the timer the button is pressed, a player is added to a different team (represented by colors; always the latest one they pressed at). And because some colors are harder to get than others and humans are a tribal bunch, this can lead to some interesting interactions.

Optional: Every player may only press the button once. Only recommended for large crowds.

The Setting

Best played on one big screen with a big red button in front of it, as an aside to whatever other party / gathering you've got going on. I suggest having something that the players can attach to themselves as a sign of their team allegiance (simple sticky dots, pins, buttons, just some colored paper with painters tape, something like that).

And then you can observe the dynamics that may or may not emerge.
